Earth Philosophical Society «Melodia Vitae»
An intensive research training programme for those who aim to enter academic science early and develop an independent research profile.
A long-term, fully-funded research training programme for talented undergraduate and postgraduate students who want early immersion in genuine scientific work — not classroom training.
The School is the Society's flagship educational programme — for those who seek genuine research practice rather than conventional coursework.
From day one, each participant works on an individual research trajectory under an experienced supervisor — with real publications as the goal.
Not for passive learning. The aim is to build a competitive, independent academic profile — over years, not weeks.
Conceive research projects, set methodology, and carry them through to data collection.
Work with data — statistical, qualitative, computational — and draw rigorous conclusions.
Prepare scientific papers for peer-reviewed publication in international venues.
Prepare and deliver scientific talks at international academic conferences.
Alongside these formal skills, particular emphasis is placed on mastering the scientific craft — the less formalised but essential aspects of research practice, including developing research intuition, working with uncertainty, navigating peer review, and engaging in meaningful academic collaboration. Much of what defines a successful researcher cannot be fully formalised — and it is precisely this dimension that the programme aims to cultivate.
Participants engage in genuine research from the very first weeks of the programme, not in years three or four.
Each participant works closely with an experienced supervisor on an individual research trajectory.
Manuscripts and peer-reviewed publications are the goal — not coursework, not credits, not certificates.
Research lines span medicine, natural sciences, environmental studies, and the humanities.
The programme develops a competitive academic identity over years, not the short-term skills of a single course.
This programme is intended for applicants who are intellectually ambitious, can work independently, are prepared for long-term commitment, and are genuinely interested in research rather than in formal credentials.
You're drawn to questions, not answers — and willing to chase them past the syllabus.
You can structure your own work and move forward without being pushed.
You're prepared for a multi-year commitment to a research line.
You're interested in research itself, not in adding lines to a CV.
Academic background relevant to the chosen field of research.
Strong theoretical foundation in the discipline — assessed during the interview.
Previous publishing experience is an advantage, not a prerequisite.
English at B2 minimum; C1 preferred. Assessed at interview, no formal certificates required.
Strong academic writing and communication skills in English.
Responsibility, precision, independence, and the ability to sustain long-term research effort.
All participants begin working on a research manuscript during the first year. For those who remain in the programme, publication within this period is considered the standard.
Participants typically contribute to multiple projects and produce several publications per year, building a publication record across topics.
Participants present at international conferences, receive invitations to peer review, and may join international scientific societies.
Over time, participants may develop:
Continued participation requires sustained academic progress, active engagement in research work, and adherence to academic and ethical standards.
Sixteen positions across four broad areas. While specific backgrounds are preferred, we welcome applicants from other disciplines who can provide a strong justification for their interest.
Highly selective. We admit only a small number of applicants each cycle, based on academic potential, motivation, and the ability to engage in independent research.
Yes. Please select one primary field in the form, but feel free to mention all your areas of interest in the motivation letter — we'll take them all into account during review.
Yes. We have no minimum year-of-study requirement. You should, however, be able to demonstrate broad and deep knowledge in the disciplines you wish to pursue.
No strict formatting. We recommend that you provide enough detail in both documents so we can fully evaluate your application.
It depends on the languages your supervisor speaks. A more convenient language may be available, but that does not waive the requirement for high English proficiency: you will work with English texts, publish in English, and present at conferences in English. Be prepared to conduct all academic activities entirely in English.
None. We're aware of the organisational and bureaucratic difficulties associated with such exams, especially in some regions. We assess your language level during the interview instead.
Complete the form and upload your CV and motivation letter.
We assess your background, research interests, and fit with available supervisors.
Shortlisted applicants are invited to an interview, after which we make the final decision.
