The School of Young Scientists is the Society’s core educational initiative.
It is designed for talented undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as early-career researchers across a wide range of disciplines, who seek early immersion in genuine scientific work rather than conventional classroom-based training.
From the beginning of the programme, each participant develops an individual research trajectory under the guidance of an experienced supervisor.
The training is based on a learning-by-doing approach: from the very beginning, participants develop their own research projects with real scientific output as the goal.

Alongside these formal skills, particular emphasis is placed on mastering the scientific craft — the less formalised but essential aspects of research practice, including developing research intuition, working with uncertainty, navigating peer review, and engaging in meaningful academic collaboration. Much of what defines a successful researcher cannot be fully formalised — and it is precisely this dimension that the programme aims to cultivate.

This programme is intended for applicants who are intellectually ambitious, can work independently, are prepared for long-term commitment, and are genuinely interested in research rather than in formal credentials.

Continued participation requires sustained academic progress, active engagement in research work, and adherence to academic and ethical standards.
All participants begin working on a research manuscript during the first year. For those who remain in the programme, publication within this period is considered the standard.
From the second year onwards, participants typically contribute to multiple projects and produce several publications per year, building a publication record across topics.
By the third year, participants typically present at international conferences, receive invitations to peer review, and may join international scientific societies.

Highly selective. We admit only a small number of applicants each cycle, based on academic potential, motivation, and the ability to engage in independent research.
Yes. Please select one primary field in the form, but feel free to mention all your areas of interest in the motivation letter — we'll take them all into account during review.
Yes. We have no minimum year-of-study requirement. You should, however, be able to demonstrate broad and deep knowledge in the disciplines you wish to pursue.
We do not have strict formatting requirements. However, we recommend that you provide enough detail in both documents so we can fully evaluate your application.
It depends on the languages your supervisor speaks in addition to English. A more convenient language may be available, but that does not waive the requirement for high English proficiency: you will work with English texts, publish in English, and present at conferences in English. Therefore, we recommend being prepared to conduct all academic activities entirely in English.
We do not require any specific language certificates. We are well aware of the organizational and bureaucratic difficulties associated with taking such exams, especially in specific regions. Instead, we assess your language level during the interview.
